Use the headings below to deconstruct your Vivid Vocab word for the week.  Make sure you fill in only the categories that apply to the word.


Word Meaning:
The definition of the word.

Root Word:
The main word after all affixes have been removed.

Prefix:
An affix that proceeds the root word and changes its use ie. un in unsuccessful

Suffix:
An affix that follows the root word and changes its use ie. ly in kindly

Origin:
This is the place from which the word began.

Word Class:
Every word fits into a words class. Some common word classes are nouns, adjectives, verbs...

Syllables:
This is an uninterrupted segment of speech. Eye, sty, act and should are all one syllable words. Eyelet, stifle, enact, and shouldn't are all two syllable words.

Synonyms:
A word having the same or almost the same meaning as the other.

Antonyms:
A word having the opposite meaning as the other.

Use in a Sentence:


Once you have completed all of these headings in your book collect an A4 page from the teacher and present your Vivid Vocab. information in an eye catching poster.
